Discover the side effects of using Ventolin as a medication.
Like any medicine, the use of Ventolin as a medical treatment can lead to different adverse effects
Ventolin is a drug for inhalation in pressurized containers approved by the Agency of the Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS).
Thus, it is a medication indicated for adults, adolescents, and even children from 4 to 11 years old.
Despite not being consumed in capsules, tablets, or dissolved in water, Ventolin 100 micrograms/inhalation suspension is also considered medicine to treat different aspects of health.
Thus, Ventolin is an inhalation medication that is used as a treatment in the following cases:
▪ Rescue medication for mild, moderate, or severe asthma.
▪ Prevention of bronchospasm/shortness of breath) induced by physical exercise or before exposure to a known allergenic stimulus is unavoidable.
Ventolin 100 micrograms/inhalation suspension is a medication approved by the health authorities and commonly used in Spain for the health cases mentioned above. Therefore, it is a drug regularly prescribed by medical specialists.
Even though its benefits are proven, like any medicine, its use can lead to a series of side effects. Although, the appearance of these adverse effects is usually minimal and does not mean that all people suffer from them.
And is that some people may be allergic to some of the compounds in Ventolin. For this reason, the AEMPS recommends stopping treatment with this medication if, after use, you develop any of the following symptoms.
Allergic reactions are very rare in patients who use Ventolin, although among its signs we can find:
▪ Swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips.
▪ Sudden appearance of ‘whistling’ or tightness in the chest area.
▪ Skin rash.
▪ Sudden feeling of weakness or dizziness
Therefore, if you develop any of these allergic symptoms, you should stop using Ventolin and contact a doctor immediately.
In addition, the Spanish Medicines Agency (AEMPS) establishes a list of possible side effects that may appear after the use of Ventolin. Although, all these contraindications are set out in the drug’s leaflet.
