What is Voltaren for

Voltaren 50 mg is a drug whose active substance is diclofenac sodium and is part of the so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

•Chronic rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, spondyloarthritis, and ankylopoietic spondyloarthritis.


•Extra-articular rheumatism.

•Pain caused by gout attacks.

•Post-traumatic inflammations.

Voltaren warnings

Before taking Voltaren it is important to take into account some warnings about this medicine since it is contraindicated in cases of :

•allergy to diclofenac or any component that contains this drug.

•allergy to acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) or similar pain relievers.


•having previously suffered from an ulcer or bleeding in the stomach or duodenum. As well as having had a perforation of the digestive system on two or more occasions while taking a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

•having active Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.

•suffer from serious kidney disease.

•suffer from serious liver diseases.

•suffer from chronic cerebrovascular heart disease or have had a heart attack, stroke, blockages in the blood vessels of the heart or brain or have undergone an operation to remove an obstruction or do a coronary bypass.

•suffer or have suffered from problems with blood circulation.


•be in the third trimester of pregnancy.

•suffer from blood clotting disorders.

It is essential to inform your doctor of these conditions, as well as if you are or have recently used other medications if you are pregnant or suspect that you might be if you are breastfeeding or if you are an elderly patient.


How to take Voltaren

The maximum daily dose of Voltaren 50 mg is generally 150 mg, i.e. 3 tablets, but in mild cases, 2 tablets per day are usually sufficient.

Of course, it will start with a dose of 50-100 mg, and only when strictly necessary, will it be increased in case of intense pain.

It is recommended to take the tablets whole with a little water before meals or when you have an empty stomach. Avoid dividing or chewing them.
